Our mission as a registered charity is to provide specialist care, love and support for those living with progressive, life limiting illnesses from East and West Sussex.

We will endeavour to meet the needs of each patient, their family and friends.

We aim to encourage and enable all patients to live their lives to their full potential despite their illnesses.

Set in 28 acres of Sussex countryside, St Peter & St James has spectacular views across the South Downs. We encourage our patients and their loved ones to make the most of our grounds, which include landscaped gardens, a wheelchair friendly woodland walk and a summer house.

All of our Hospice services are free of charge to patients and their loved ones. We receive less than 16% of our funding from the Government and have to raise more than £2.2 million every year through fundraising. That’s £6,000 every single day.

All donations made online by debit or credit card payment are processed by ‘Memory Giving’, please click here for their terms and conditions. Donations made through ‘Memory Giving’ are dealt with solely by ‘Memory Giving’, which pass the donated funds direct to the chosen charity. Donations are accepted up to 6 weeks after a funeral. When the donation page closes the family will be sent details by ‘Memory Giving’ listing all donations made.
‘Memory Giving’, similar to other on-line payment services, deduct 5% from each donation to cover their administrative costs. Debit & credit card payments are transacted via Tyl who charge up to a 2% fee for processing each donation. These deductions are NOT applicable on any Gift Aid element of a donation. Neither C. Waterhouse & Sons or Heathfield Funeral Service receive any form of fee or commission from anyone donating via ‘Memory Giving’. If you qualify for Gift Aid please tick where indicated on the donation page as this potentially increases your donation by up to 25% which, in our opinion, far exceeds the additional ‘Memory Giving’ charges.
