The Waterhouse team are caring and experienced, dedicated to looking after families who choose to use us. The wealth of knowledge across our team provides invaluable, compassionate support, along with informed advice. Our collective aim is to ensure that the varying needs and wishes of each family we care for are not only met each and every time, but where possible their expectations are exceeded.

Brian Curtain

Brian was born and brought up in Burwash. He is usually the first person to meet our families as he is responsible for carrying out the out of hours first call duties. Brian looks after our fleet of vehicles and all workshop related duties, as well driving the hearse and bearing. Family is very important to Brian, as is his beloved Arsenal.

Chris Porter

Chris joined us in 2011 and lives in Heathfield with his wife Wendy. He assists in all workshop duties, including coffin preparation, cleaning vehicles and bearing. Chris is also one of the first members of our staff you may meet, as he assists with the out of hours first call duties. Chris is an avid cinema goer and book worm.

Wendy Mitchell

Wendy has been an integral member of our staff for nearly 20 years. Born and brought up in Croydon, Wendy moved to Tunbridge Wells in 1981 and after spending time with BT and Sainsbury’s she joined us to be the main funeral arranger for our Heathfield office. Wendy manages and coordinates all the funeral arrangements and has over the years built up a strong relationship with both our families and the Heathfield community. Wendy spends her spare time enjoying her grandchildren and many different hobbies.

Teresa Powell Fairweather

Teresa is a Wadhurst girl with a degree in Textiles gained at the Norwich University of Art. Having spent 17 years working and managing a local residential care home. Teresa spends the majority of her time arranging funerals and is based at our Burwash office, Teresa is a very knowledgeable and keen gardener, spending her spare time either in her garden or at her allotment.

Zara Rhys-Jones

Zara is the most recent recruit to join our team as a funeral arranger. She has a degree in Business Studies, is a trained nursery school teacher, and has previous work experience in sales, marketing and bookkeeping. Zara is mum of two boys, now in their early twenties. She loves walking the dog, cooking and gardening.

Karen Puttock

Clare Waterhouse

Clare Waterhouse has joined the family firm after a career in the legal profession specialising in probate and inheritance tax wealth management planning and still maintains her FILEX qualification.
Clare focuses on every aspect of the business and as well as being involved in the operational side, she is the main contact for community relationships.

David Rhys-Jones

David is a man with many different hats! From conducting funerals, to arranging and bearing on both Burwash and Heathfield funerals, David is also responsible for our website, marketing, health & safety and controlling the day-to-day logistics of staff and vehicles.

Dorothy Waterhouse

Dorothy Waterhouse began helping her father with running C. Waterhouse & Sons in her early 20's. As her father approached retirement Dorothy took on more of the undertaking work, from cleaning cars, to doing the accounts and everything in between. Dorothy's overriding ethos, which still permeates every fibre of the business today, is to care for families and to support their individual wishes and arrangements.
