“The only source of knowledge is experience” (Albert Einstein)
“Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice” (Anton Checkov)
The celebration, or thanksgiving of the life of a loved one, which a funeral service represents, should always be a very personal affair. Our whole aim is to provide every family we look after with a very personal service, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, backed up by our in-depth knowledge, gained from over 90 years experience in the funeral industry is backed up by our in-house facilities, which are of the highest standards.
All of the personal touches we offer means you will have the peace of mind, that every step of the way, we will be taking the care of your loved one the way you would expect. Our ethos is that we look after every deceased person we are entrusted with, as though they were a member of our family.
With much happening at such a difficult time, we are there to support you every step of the way. The benefit of our personal approach is that we take great care in each part of the process. As a family-owned and run business, we are proud to say that everything is dealt with by us. We have over 90 years of invaluable experience in caring for the bereaved and their families. All this knowledge has been passed down through the generations and we are very proud of this.
We have our own First Call team, who operate 24 hours a day and can come to collect the deceased. With us, you can guarantee safe passage for your loved one, from the initial pick up. Our very own staff will answer our phones, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year – you will never be speaking to a call centre
We own both our premises; in Burwash and Heathfield. We have 10 full time staff, working across both offices, who can all help you and answer any questions. Our fleet of 7 vehicles are available to cover any eventuality. Our ability to use on our in-house teams, cars and equipment means we do not have to outsource to external third parties, or call upon occasional staff.
We have our own mortuary facilities at both our sites; many other Funeral Directors do not have this option. When you want to come and visit your loved one in our Chapels of Rest, you can be assured they will be with us the entire time and not moved just for a viewing, which can so often happen with other funeral directors. Knowing that your loved one is being looked after locally, by the family funeral director you have chosen, is an additional comfort.
We have our own in-house workshop. We deal with engraving nameplates, as well as completing coffins, adding the interior linings and exterior fittings and any other special features as required.
We store standard sizes of our main coffin lines, ensuring continuity of supply, thereby not being reliant on a just-in-time operation, which can be fraught with potential dangers at especially busy times.
As part of the range of services we offer to families we look after we are able to design and print service sheets on our premises. This full in-house colour printing facility means families do not have the worry of having to personally deal with printers. We provide scanning of family photographs, along with being able to supply proofs of orders of service in both hard copy and electronic formats.
Many families at services in church wish to have pre-recorded music as part of the service. We are able to accommodate such requests and one of our team can be designated with our BOSE speaker to play whatever music choices are required. Additionally, we have a battery speaker, which in tandem with our iPod, can be used to play music in more remote locations, such a churchyards, cemeteries, and woodland burial areas.
